Reaction Injection Molding
Taking us into the future, CFI houses and utilizes state of the art injection machines-Cannon, Admiral and NAU. Processes include:
- RIM
- R RIM
- Elastameric
- Foam
RIM is a chemical process for molding plastics that mixes and meters liquid raw materials and then injects them into a mold cavity. The part then forms in the mold cavity from which, after a certain time, it is released. Other agents can also be added to the mixture of liquid raw material to provide desired properties such as added strength.
RIM equipment is modular. The dispensing system can serve one mold or several. Cylinder dispensing units are required to process filled system. Additionally, the temperature, flow rates and specific gravities of the liquid reactants can be monitored and controlled by microprocessors. Many factors to consider in the RIM process is dimension, shapes and tolerances; the quality and texture of the surface; mold life; required mold cost; and part performance.
(We can make RIM parts up to 4' x 5' ft.)
